Save Money This Christmas With Outdoor Solar Christmas Lights

The new trend in Christmas lighting is LED Christmas lights. LED Christmas lights are becoming popular indoors, because they don't get hot like the old tree lights. LED lights also don't use very much electricity, almost none at all, and they don't ever burnout.

Solar powered Christmas lights are LED lights powered by a solar panel. Solar lights come with a stake you stick in the ground and on top of the to and a stake is it rechargeable battery pack with a solar panel on top of that. The sun shines on solar panel it keeps the batteries charged the power of the batteries is enough to light the LED string of lights.

One nice thing about solar powered Christmas lights is that they have a photocell that detects when it's dark out and they turn themselves on all by themselves.

Since these lights run off of rechargeable batteries, how bright they get, and how long will stay on, depends on how well the batteries are charged. If you place the solar collector panel in a well lit area on a bright sunny day that should be enough to recharge the batteries. With fully charged batteries your life should stay on for 10 to 15 hours. If you have a string of overcast days with not too much sunlight the batteries can become depleted and your life will be dimmer and won't stay on as long.

Another thing to consider when buying solar powered outdoor Christmas lights is the climate that you live. December is usually a very snowy time of the year for most people and you will have to keep the solar panels free from snow or the batteries wont charge.

LED Christmas lights are fairly new product so you may be slightly limited on your choices. From what I've seen on some popular Internet sites this should not be too much problem. I've seen solar Christmas wreaths, white solar rope lights, white icicle lights, white net lights, and a variety of colored lights to choose from. One neat product I saw was a solar window candle.

So if you're interested in solar powered Christmas lights do some research on the Internet. You'll probably have to buy them online also because not too many stores are stocked with a good variety are of these type of lights. Be aware of the drawbacks solar powered lights depend on sunlight.
